Embrace the wild roots of your past

BE YOUR OWN SAVIOR

An Evolutionary Initiation into the Body, Mind, and Spirit

Through years of studying evolutionary neuroscience, biology, physiology, psychology, sociology, and traditional Ayahuasca philosophy, I began to see human transformation through a different lens. I came to believe that, to truly understand ourselves, we must reconnect with the wild roots of our evolutionary past—not by escaping our biology, but by learning to move through it consciously.

Be Your Own Savior was born from my own initiation.

For me, this was not simply an intellectual study. It was an intense and often difficult process of experiencing my own biology, psychology, emotions, instincts, and consciousness in real time. Throuogh Ayahuasca, meditation, breathwork, body awareness, discomfort, and deep connection with the jungle, I began learning how to feel, observe, reflect upon, and integrate the different dimensions of myself.

The result was a return to the body.

A return to the senses.

A return to something more instinctive, grounded, and alive.

THE EVOLUTIONARY PROCESS

I use an evolutionary framework to explore several interconnected layers of human experience.

1. The Instinctive Brain — Survival & Embodiment

We begin with the systems associated with the brainstem and basal ganglia and the fundamental physiological processes that support survival, instinct, movement, threat responses, territorial behavior, dominance, sexuality, and basic regulation.

This is our foundation.

If we are disconnected from our bodies and our most fundamental instincts, it becomes difficult to build the stability required for deeper psychological and spiritual development.

The first step is learning to inhabit the body again—to feel it, listen to it, challenge it, and develop a relationship with its signals.

2. The Emotional Brain — Connection & Feeling

We then move into systems associated with the limbic network, including structures such as the amygdala, hippocampus, and insula.

These systems are deeply involved in emotional processing, memory, attachment, bonding, interoception, and our relationship with others.

This is where we learn to feel.

Rather than suppressing emotion or allowing it to control us, we learn to experience it, observe it, regulate it's, and understand what it is communicating.

3. The Human Neocortex — Awareness & Choice

From there we explore the capacities of the neocortex, particularly networks involving the prefrontal cortex.

These systems support learning, planning, decision-making, language, problem-solving, impulse control, and conscious reasoning.

This is where instinct and emotion begin to meet conscious choice.

We learn not simply to react—but to respond.

4. Integrated Heart Consciousness — The Whole System

Finally, we explore how these systems interact as one living organism.

The neocortex provides biological structures involved in higher cognition, while large-scale networks such as the Default Mode Network (DMN) are involved in processes including self-referential thinking, autobiographical memory, imagination, creativity, and aspects of social cognition.

When we become less rigidly attached to our habitual story of who we are, we can begin to observe ourselves from a different perspective.

We can question old patterns.

We can see our relationships differently.

We can create space between an impulse and our response.

And we can begin integrating the instinctive, emotional, rational, and reflective dimensions of ourselves rather than allowing one part to dominate the whole.

AYAHUASCA & THE INITIATION

Ayahuasca is central to the initiation I experienced and to the container I have created through Be Your Own Savior.

Research using neuroimaging and other methods is beginning to explore how Ayahuasca and its active compounds influence brain networks involved in emotion, self-referential processing, and cognition. Some studies have reported changes in activity and connectivity involving networks such as the Default Mode Network, as well as changes in emotional processing.

But the medicine is not the entire process.

Ayahuasca can open the door. What we do with what we encounter is where integration begins.

The tools I teach—meditation, breathwork, body awareness, deliberately entering discomfort, connection with nature, and conscious reflection—are designed to help us work with what emerges.

We learn to feel without immediately reacting.

To observe without immediately judging.

To experience discomfort without automatically escaping.

To recognize old patterns.

And to begin transforming insight into embodied behavior.

For some people, this may create new perspectives around trauma, addiction, unhealthy habits, relationships, identity, and the stories we carry about ourselves.

WHY MEN?

I believe this process can be particularly meaningful for men.

Modern life can disconnect men from their bodies, instincts, emotions, vulnerability, and natural relationship with challenge.

The goal is not to become harder.

It is to become stronger without becoming disconnected.

More grounded.

More emotionally regulated.

More disciplined.

More conscious.

More capable of facing discomfort without running from it.

A strong body.

A strong mind.

A strong spirit.

FROM EXPERIENCE TO INITIATION

This work began with my own experience.

I did not begin with a theory and then search for an experience to prove it.

I went through an intense initiation first.

That experience led me to study behavioral evolution, neuroscience, physiology, psychology, and the neurochemistry behind what I was experiencing. Over time, I began connecting what I had lived through with what I was learning intellectually.

Be Your Own Savior emerged from that intersection of experience and study.

Today, I offer the framework and the tools that helped me navigate that process, alongside Ayahuasca and the traditional knowledge that has influenced my path.

My team and I are here not only to support you during the experience, but also as you make the courageous decision to leave your familiar environment, come into the jungle, and step into something unknown.

This is an invitation into a shared experience.

This is how it worked for me.

This is the framework I created from that experience.

And this is the container I am offering—if you choose to step into it.
